Postdoctoral Research Assistant: Developmental and Stem Cell Biology
The lab of Professor Magdalena Zernicka-Goetz at California Institute of Technology (Caltech) is looking for a dedicated postdoctoral researcher to investigate mechanisms of self-organisation, symmetry breaking and pattern formation during early mammalian development using mouse embryos as a main model system.
Recently the lab developed unique methods for studying mouse and human embryos and for building embryo-like structures from stem cells (e.g. Bedzhov and Zernicka-Goetz, Cell 2014; Harrison et al., Science 2017; Shahbazi et al, Nature, 2016 and Nature 2017; Sozen et al., Nature Cell Biology, 2018). We are using these models to discover how cells communicate with each other during self-organization and symmetry breaking. The successful candidate should have (or about to be awarded) a PhD in developmental or cell biology or biophysics. The expertise in the mouse embryo development and high-resolution live embryo microscopy are particularly important.
